Augustus (“Augie”) T. Curtis Augustus
Augie received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Southern Illinois University in 1992, and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1995. After completing law school, he served as judicial clerk to the Honorable James E. Massey, Bankruptcy Judge at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and followed this with a second clerkship, with A. David Kahn, Chief Judge of the same court.
Mr. Curtis began his career in private practice with King & Spalding, LLP, in Atlanta, Georgia, specializing in bankruptcy, commercial loan workouts, and commercial transactions. He continued his practice in Georgia with Fortson, Bentley & Griffin, PA, again specializing in representation of lenders and debtors in both consumer and commercial bankruptcy cases.
Since relocating to Maryland in 2002, Mr. Curtis continued his representation of parties in both consumer and commercial bankruptcy cases, including representation in several Chapter 11 cases as Debtor’s counsel, in several of which Mr. Curtis won confirmation of Chapter 11 Plans and arranged complex sales of Debtor assets in bankruptcy proceedings. Mr. Curtis joined the firm of Cohen, Baldinger & Greenfeld in 2009.
He is a Subchapter V Chapter 11 Trustee in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia, serves on the board of directors of the Maryland Bankruptcy Bar Association and the Maryland Consumer Bankruptcy Bar Association.
Augie, his wife Zina, and his son Max are residents of Frederick County, Maryland.
